ADV93 Warm Up Assignment #2: 12 Principles of Design
For this exercise, we had to create postcards using our own pictures, Photoshop's generative AI, and Adobe Express. As my picture of reference, I chose the top floor of the MLK Library, and took a picture of the outside view from where I was sitting. I then went onto Photoshop and used its generative AI to alter the image so there's three different images to work with each time. One of them was adding books on top of the table, and the last two was changing the background of the view outside the window. After "posterizing" the image and adding a vintage texture to overlap, I finally took all three separate images into Adobe Express to implement the text. I applied some of the 12 principles of design in each postcard in order to guide the overall design and the typography for each postcard, concluding with the final three results.

Postcard Background (Before Text)
Postcard #1
The difference with this image is that I added books on top of the desk. I mainly used proportion to differentiate the size of the two lines, to emphasize the name of the location, and make the hierarchy clear on what is the most important thing to know. Additionally, a variety of text with the more readable font backing up the emphasis of the location.
Postcard #2
I altered the background of the window so that there's a green valley outside as the view. Again, proportion was used to show the two important words, the movement is clear that it has to go from up to down, and the highlighted "MLK Library" is to help give some contrast in color compared to the background and the other white text.
Postcard #3
The altered background this time, is a different city view in the night sky. With every postcard, the variety in the vintage-like texture and the text is what makes it look like an actual postcard. Here, I again used proportion to show the most important fact: the location and name of the library, and additionally that's where the shapes surrounding the name help support when it comes to the hierarchy.
